Medical Records
Our medical providers require certain diagnostic tests and accompanying reports to provide an accurate opinion. In the case of orthopedic procedures, x-rays are usually typical with a radiology report. In some cases, MRI scans are helpful as they involve soft tissue examination. CT scans are helpful for other medical conditions involving the spine, arteries, internal organs and brain. When it comes to the Heart, an echocardiogram is often a pre-cursor to diagnosing a valve irregularity. A more involved test is a Trans esophageal echocardiogram that will determine whether a valve can be repaired or requires replacement. Digital imaging results are usually provided the patient on a CD, so that they can be viewed anywhere in the World. We will need your most recent x-rays (digital or film), MRI’s and any other written/radiology/test reports to complete the full picture. Our doctors and surgeons also require a medical history to evaluate any co-morbid conditions such as Diabetes or DVT, and a list of the medications a patient is taking. We transmit this information to at least two surgeon choices to make sure they both agree on the course of treatment. Our turnaround time is usually 48 to 72 hours. If the surgeons agree, then it is simply a patient choice based on comfort level, destination and price. If advisable, we will set up a tele- conference with the surgeon of choice to offer you reassurance.
