Planned Procedures Only
Health Travel is not for someone in need of immediate, life-saving care. It’s great for elective joint replacement procedures, spinal surgery and other non-emergency medical care such as cosmetic surgery, dental work, lasik and eye surgeries. It’s meant for planned procedures such as heart valve replacement or angioplasty where there is no crisis situation. If you’re having a heart attack, the nearest hospital emergency room is your only option. But if you’re having only chest pains, which can be medically stabilized, you may qualify for a scheduled procedure that can be planned weeks or months down the road at cost savings of 80%. To justify traveling long distances, your US cost should be a minimum of $10,000. The greater the US cost, the greater the savings.
