Joint Registries

The US is the only developed Western country that doesn’t have a National Joint Registry to track replacement outcomes and identify the best knee and hip implant hardware. Yet we as a country do the highest number of knee replacements and hip replacements annually in the World.
Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and certain European countries have joint registries. Some doctor members of the American Orthopedic Association feel such a registry would be too much work. Others feel it would provide data for the legal profession to mine and file more medical malpractice suits.
